Sola Winley

Executive Vice President, Corporate Strategy & Planning A+E Networks

Sola Winley, a specialist in executive and organizational development, joined A+E Networks in 2013 as Executive Vice President, Corporate Strategy & Planning. In this role, Winley supports enterprise-wide strategic initiatives to ensure that they are on track with A+E Networks’ business objectives. As a member of A+E Networks’ executive team he helps to create, assess and execute corporate and organizational strategy initiatives and identifies opportunities for enhanced cross-functional integration. Winley leads and supports the implementation of existing and future planning processes and recommends and evaluates solutions to ensure alignment and synergy.

He provides senior level consulting in the areas of leadership and executive coaching, team alignment and talent development across the organization. Winley assists in the design and facilitation of senior level management retreats, including A+E’s company meetings and helps to craft executive level internal and external messages on behalf of the CEO and company. In 2015, Winley formed and serves as the executive sponsor of A+E’s Multi-Cultural Insights Team (MIT) which provides critical audience and cultural insights to A+E’s business functions.

Prior to joining A+E Networks, Winley was the founder and Principal of ProVision Consulting, Inc., a firm specializing in executive development, organizational design and team alignment, for 11 years. He worked with senior leaders and teams from a variety of organizations and sectors, including media, sports and entertainment, energy, finance, law and nonprofit. During this period Winley also founded and led the Institute for Leadership and Change (ILC), a think tank and training program designed to prepare mid-level executives of color for senior level positions in the non-profit sector.

Prior to starting his firm in 2002, Winley worked for seven years for the National Football League in its domestic and international divisions in the areas of fan development, events and international media sales and marketing. Winley negotiated and packaged broadcast rights to NFL games abroad and designed integrated marketing solutions for key NFL partners throughout Asia, Europe and North America. Winley was instrumental in the creation, and launch of events and marketing programs under the NFL’s Play Football umbrella including its successful global NFL Flag franchise.  

Winley is a member of the Executive Leadership Council (ELC) which is an organization that is committed to increasing the number of global black executives in C-Suites, corporate boards and in global enterprises. He is also a member the David Lynch Foundation Leadership Advisory Council and The Moth’s Director’s Circle. He is on the Advisory Board of new start-up technology firm, Gauge and a recipient of the 2014 NAMIC Luminary Award. He was a 2016 and 2017 Cablefax honoree as one of the 100 Most Influential Minority Leaders in Cable.

He received his BA from the University of Connecticut, an MA from Adelphi University, an MSW from New York University and an MBA from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Business.
