A+E NETWORKS FINISHES 2012 WITH MOST-WATCHED YEAR EVER

A&E, HISTORY, LIFETIME, BIO, H2 AND LMN ALL POST YEAR-OVER-YEAR GROWTH – THE ONLY NETWORK GROUP TO ACHIEVE GROWTH ACROSS THE BOARD

PORTFOLIO OF BRANDS BECOMES HOME TO THE MOST HITS IN CABLE

NEW YORK, NY – DECEMBER 19, 2012 – A+E Networks is poised to finish 2012 with the most-watched year ever for the cable network group across all demos.  Among the key adults 25-54 demographic, A+E Networks was the only cable network group to have all of its measured networks post year-over-year growth.

The aggregate average primetime audience for A&E Network, History, Lifetime, BIO, H2 and LMN grew by 7% among total viewers, 5% in adults 25-54 and 3% in adults 18-49, versus 2011.

A+E Networks also had the most hits in cable (scripted and unscripted) in 2012, with 24 series posting at least 1 million viewers in the key adult 25-54 demo, including A&E’s “Longmire” and “Duck Dynasty,” HISTORY’s “Pawn Stars” and “Swamp People,” and Lifetime’s “The Client List” and “Dance Moms,” among others.  The network group is home to an astonishing 27% of all programs on cable with more than 1 million viewers in the demo. On the unscripted side, A+E Networks controls 3 of the top 5 and 5 of the top 10 shows on cable in total viewers, including having cable's most-watched unscripted series (“Pawn Stars” on HISTORY).

“2012 marked the best year in the 28 year history of the A+E Networks group,” said Abbe Raven, President & CEO of A+E Networks.  “At a time when most of our competitors are experiencing year-over-year declines, it is incredibly rewarding to see all six of our core networks posting growth and to be the home to two of the top five entertainment networks in cable.  It’s a testament to the enduring strength of our brands and their continued resonance with audiences, advertisers and the distribution community.”
