Series Premiere!

VIKINGS:

RITES OF PASSAGE

The extraordinary tales of the lives and epic adventures of the fiercest warriors in history are told in VIKINGS, a new nine-part scripted docudrama. The drama portrays the world of these Dark Age raiders, traders, explorers – not from an outsider’s view, but, through the eyes of Viking society.

While VIKINGS is filled with conflict, warfare and bloodshed – for these were extreme times – it is a family saga at heart. It follows the adventures of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel, The Beast, Baytown Outlaws), a curious, compelling  man who is always looking to break through barriers and discover new worlds to conquer. A young farmer and family man, Ragnar is deeply frustrated by the unadventurous policies of his local chieftain, Earl Haraldson (Gabriel Byrne, In Treatment, The Usual Suspects, Millers Crossing), who continues to send his Vikings raiders east every summer, to the Baltic states and Russia, whose populations are as materially poor as themselves.

VIKINGS charts Ragnar’s ambitions to discover civilizations across the great ocean to the west as well as his inevitable conflicts along the way. With the help of his jester friend Floki, (Gustaf Skarsgard, The Way Back), they build a new generation of boats – faster, sleeker and more beautifully crafted than anything else on the sea.

The series will also delve into how the Vikings – the last pagans – worshipped ancient gods like Odin, Thor, Freya and Loki. Ragnar claims to be a direct descendant of the Norse god Odin, who, as well as being the god of warriors slain in battle, is also the god of curiosity.

VIKINGS costars are Katheryn Winnick (Bones, Love and Other Drugs, The Black Marks) as Lagertha, a fierce shield maiden and Ragnar’s wife; Jessalyn Gilsig (Glee, Heroes, Nip/Tuck, Friday Night Lights) as Siggy, Earl Haraldson’s beautiful wife; George Blagden (Les Miserables, Wrath of the Titans) as Athelstan, a young, innocent Christian monk captured by Ragnar on his first raid on England, and Clive Standen (Camelot, Robin Hood) as Rollo, Ragnar’s impulsive, wild, care-free brother.

VIKINGS was created and written by Michael Hirst (Academy-Award winning film Elizabeth; and the Emmy and Golden Globe nominated series The Tudors).

Rites of Passage: In 8th century Scandinavia, Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) is a warrior and a farmer who dreams of finding riches by bucking the tradition of raiding to the east. Ragnar has been working in secret on a project that will turn the Viking world on its head. But first Ragnar must convince the leader of his community, the powerful Earl Haraldson (Gabriel Byrne), who is none too happy to share in the renown that this journey could bring to Ragnar if it’s successful.

AMERICAN PICKERS

SWAMP PEOPLE

SWAMP PEOPLE follows the intrepid Swampers as they battle through the wrath of Hurricane Isaac which robs them of five precious days of their short alligator season. In the storm aftermath, they must face down massive fish kills, flooded hunting grounds and gators that just refuse to take their bait. And if that’s not enough, there are new predators on the bayou – in the human form. There are Texas interlopers in Pierre Part, a wide-spread epidemic of poaching in Louisiana, and a plague of new hunting partner challenges as they attempt to tag out in their most difficult season yet.

This season, your favorite Swampers return, including Troy, who is forced to hunt with his city-clicker oldest son Brandon, back in the swamp for the first time in 10 years; Jacob, who is paired up with his brother Chase, out to prove they are the worthy heir to the Landry family throne; Liz, who after losing her partner Kristi, is forced to hunt with her 19-year-old daughter Jessica; RJ and Paul, back on familiar turf, where they must prove to the Houma tribe they’ve still got what it takes to land the biggest gators; Bruce and Ron, determined to overcome last season’s failures but facing bad luck and difficult odds; Junior, pressured by the shortened gator season, who pushes his son, Willie, to his wits end; and Glenn Guist, trying desperately to define life without his brother, Mitchell, who died suddenly from a massive heart attack in the off season.

These veterans will be joined by new guys on the Bayou, including: T-Roy Broussard and Harlan "Bigfoot" Hatcher, the top alligator hunters in Texas, trying to breaking into the Louisiana gator hunting scene; Jeromy Pruitt and David LaDarte, a stepfather/stepson team who use unconventional bait, boats, and ammunition to land them at the top of the list of Northern Louisiana hunters; and ZZ Loupe, a 16-year-old hunting prodigy whose swamp savvy and ingenuity defies his young age and who has teamed with legendary swamp veteran Tom Candies for this season.

BIG RIG BOUNTY HUNTERS

Every week, hundreds of trucks carrying valuable cargo across America go missing. Stolen, abandoned and sometimes destroyed, these big rigs have to be hunted down and hauled to their destinations. Meanwhile, the clock is ticking. The loads must be delivered on time or the trucking companies pay the price. When rigs disappear and there’s no time to wait for the law, there’s just one place to turn – the truck hunters.

Ride along with five groups of colorful characters and one lone wolf as they race against time and face life-threatening obstacles to retrieve hijacked rigs. A day in the life of a truck hunter is never easy, but it’s fueled by dollar signs. BIG RIG BOUNTY HUNTERS takes viewers on the road with professional truck hunters who will stop at nothing to recover the 18-wheelers and deliver the goods.

In crime-ridden Newark, NJ, veteran driver John is the muscle and his ex-cop brother-in-law Gene is the sleuth. The series premiere finds them calling on connections to trace the theft of a rig, only to find it abandoned and stripped of its wheels and rims. In Ohio, Shawn and Vince, best friends since their first schoolyard fight, are known as the Midwest’s top truck hunters. Whether being trailed by a suspicious van while carrying top-secret cargo or confronted by a wounded turkey in an abandoned cab…it’s all in a day’s work for these truck hunters.

In Houston, there’s Marshall and Korchenko, who may think they’ve seen and done it all. But when a truck – and its haul of prize-winning cattle – is stalled on a railroad crossing, can they get there before the train does? And in Tucson, Eric is trying to run the family business, but his son Rob, a reluctant partner, nearly sabotages a rescue because of his soft spot for an abandoned puppy.

In Denver, there’s Steve and Animal, Vietnam vets who survived brutal combat and went into trucking after the war because it’s an “easy” living. And Jaxon, a one-man operation, loves to roam and prefers to work alone. Whether keeping valuable cargo out of the wrong hands or dealing with crazed thieves, these wranglers risk their lives to make a buck…and keep America’s trucking industry rolling.

VIKINGS

RAID

RAID: In the Great Hall of Kattegat, a seer reads Earl Haraldson’s future and tells him that Ragnar Lothbrok searches for his death. The unanswerable question is whom the gods favor more? As a man willing to defend his power and status to the death, Haraldson intends to take precautionary measures. Ragnar, his home and farm burned by the Earl, is hurt but hidden safely away. He must now choose the path that will lead him back to his freedom.

VIKINGS follows the adventures of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel, The Beast, Baytown Outlaws), a curious, compelling  man who is always looking to break through barriers and discover new worlds to conquer.
