New York, NY – April 2, 2020 – This Friday and Saturday night, A&E will present two special episodes of the hit documentary series “Live PD,” from MGM’s Big Fish Entertainment, addressing the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.  Premiering at 9pm ET/PT each night, “Live PD: Special Edition” will bring viewers critical information and first-hand accounts of the evolving crisis through interviews with medical authorities, reporting from outside busy hospitals and testimonials from law enforcement and government officials, in addition to the everyday interactions with the community chronicled on “Live PD.”  Throughout the special episodes, the show will highlight local community members serving on the front lines of the pandemic and will air a series of PSAs benefitting the First Responders Children’s Foundation Covid-19 Emergency Response Fund.

“These special editions of ‘Live PD’ will deliver a unique point of view and invaluable perspective that isn’t being heard anywhere else on television during this worldwide crisis,” said Elaine Frontain Bryant, Executive Vice President and Head of Programming.  “Through first-hand accounts from the front lines and stories of true citizen heroes, the series will continue to serve the audience valuable information that we hope will aid in keeping everyone healthy and safe.  Our thoughts are with everyone during this uncertain time.”

Through its long-standing commitment to first responders and veterans, A&E is supporting and raising awareness for the First Responders Children’s Foundation COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund, which provides support to those first responder families who are enduring financial hardship due to the coronavirus outbreak.  A&E is also sharing information and resources about how to stay safe during the COVID-19 crisis including PSAs with talent using the hashtags #WeAreHereWithYou and #FirstRespondersStrong.

Dan Cesareo, president of Big Fish Entertainment, said, “At its core, ‘Live PD’ illuminates through a transparent lens the critical work of first responders. We are all witnessing and experiencing how COVID-19 is affecting and upending daily life and so, along with our partners at A&E, are extremely gratified to be able to bring these important stories of first responders to bear.”

Hosted by Dan Abrams, with analysis from Tom Morris Jr. and Sgt. For the past 20 years, First Responders Children’s Foundation has been providing college scholarships to children of first responders who have lost a parent in the line of duty. The Foundation also awards grants to families enduring significant financial hardship and supports programs operated by law enforcement organizations whose purpose is to benefit children or the community in which they live. The Foundation’s annual Thanksgiving Day Parade breakfast hosts children and family members of those lost in the line of duty for a free breakfast and front-row view of the Parade so those families can gather and heal during what might otherwise be a stressful holiday.
