Barry Jossen Joins A+E Studios

BARRY JOSSEN JOINS A+E NETWORKS AS
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF A+E STUDIOS
New York, NY – February 6, 2014 – Veteran producer and television and film executive Barry Jossen has joined the newly formed A+E Studios as Executive Vice President, it was announced today by A+E Networks’ Bob DeBitetto, President of Brand Strategy, Business Development and A+E Studios, to whom he will report. Jossen will be based in the company’s Los Angeles offices.
In his role, Jossen will oversee all scripted programming operations of A+E Studios, the in-house production arm of the award-winning global media company A+E Networks, including creative affairs and production on all scripted programming produced and co-produced by the studio.

Jossen most recently served as head of ABC Studios, where he was responsible for oversight of all studio operations and strategic planning, including creative development, current programming, production, post production and music. Under his leadership, ABC Studios produced numerous groundbreaking series, including “Lost,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “Scandal.” He founded and launched ABC Signature, a boutique studio that creates content for off-network and emerging platforms, and helped grow ABC Studios’ cable presence, which includes “Perception,” “Cougar Town,” “Army Wives” and “Devious Maids.”
Prior to joining ABC Studios, Jossen was an executive consultant for Imagine Television, where he supervised the production of “24” and “Felicity,” while developing additional projects for the studio. Before Imagine, he was executive producer on the series “Grapevine,” and co-executive producer on “Sex and the City.” Previously, Barry served as head of production at DreamWorks Television and Producer at Lucasfilm Limited. He also won an Academy Award for the 1996 Live Action Short Film, “Dear Diary,” which he produced.
Jossen is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, The Director’s Guild of America and the Producer’s Guild of America.
A+E Studios has been thriving since its inception. Current projects include the HISTORY miniseries, “Houdini,” starring Adrien Brody, which just wrapped production; “Texas Rising,” an eight hour epic event currently in casting and pre-production for HISTORY; the Revolutionary War miniseries “Sons of Liberty,” in development for HISTORY; a remake of the highly acclaimed French thriller, “The Returned,” now being written for A&E; and several drama pilots now in post-production and being considered for pick-up by Lifetime, including “Unreal,” which stars Shiri Appleby and is co-written and produced by Marti Noxon and Sarah Gertrude Shapiro.
