NEW YORK (March 31, 2012) – A+E Networks™ appoints Christopher Barry to the position of Managing Director, International Strategy and Digital Media.  The announcement was made today by Sean Cohan, Senior Vice President, International for A+E Networks, to whom Mr. Barry will report. 
Based in the company’s New York headquarters, Mr. Barry will develop and execute the division’s strategic initiatives in partnership with executives around the world and cultivate new growth opportunities, including investments and partnerships.  In addition, he will oversee international digital operations, including the execution of B2B and B2C websites.  Mr. Barry will also be responsible for driving international digital distribution, negotiating deals with A+E Networks’ broadband, mobile, and VoD partners, and developing strategies for rights protection and exploitation. 
“We’ve found a star ‘athlete’ in Christopher and warmly welcome him to the A+E Networks’ team,” said Cohan. “Digital and strategy are important to all our businesses and Christopher holds a unique set of skills and experiences that will be crucial to A+E Networks’ continued commercial development internationally.”  
Mr. Barry joins A+E Networks from Sundance Channel where he was Senior Vice President, Digital Media & Business Strategy, overseeing the channel’s digital media operations, content distribution and business development activities since 2003. Under his leadership, Sundance Channel has been recognized with the web’s most prestigious honors, including 7 Webby wins, and has pioneered digital distribution across a range of emerging platforms. Prior to that, Mr. Barry worked in the Investment Banking Division of Morgan Stanley & Co. as Vice President, Global Media & Communications Corporate Finance where he provided strategic financial advisory services to cable operators and television broadcasters since 1999. Before joining Morgan Stanley & Co., Mr. Barry was a financial and economic consultant for the Chicago-based firm, Arthur Andersen. 
Mr. Barry received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a Master of International Affairs degree from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.
