Pasadena, CA – January 18, 2020 – For its 25th anniversary, HISTORY is returning to its roots with a renewed focus on core history programming. The network is set to premiere three new groundbreaking projects, it was announced today from the 2020 Winter Television Critics Association tour held at The Langham in Pasadena, California. This programming includes: “Washington” premiering Sunday, February 16 at 8pm ET/PT, an epic three-night miniseries event executive produced by world-renowned presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin; “Auschwitz Untold” premiering Sunday, January 26 at 9pm ET/PT, a groundbreaking two-hour documentary commemorating the 75th anniversary of the camp’s liberation, narrated by Academy Award-Winning actor Ben Kingsley; and “Black Patriots” premiering Wednesday, February 19 at 10pm ET/PT, a riveting new one-hour documentary executive produced by NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar which traces the arc of the Revolutionary War through the eyes of the African Americans who put their lives on the line.

  • HISTORY is commemorating the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz with a new two-hour documentary “Auschwitz Untold” premiering Sunday, January 26 at 9pm ET. The documentary depicts the chilling story of the Nazi persecution and extermination of European Jews by combining newly colorized footage from the Holocaust and rare, first person interviews with survivors. Academy Award-winning actor Ben Kingsley (Murderers Among Us: The Simon Wiesenthal Story, Schindler’s List, Anne Frank: The Whole Story and Operation Finale) narrates.

HISTORY Premieres “Black Patriots” From Executive Producer and NBA Legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Honoring African American Heroes Who Fought on the Frontlines of the Revolutionary War

  • HISTORY announces a new, one-hour documentary “Black Patriots,” featuring NBA legend, best-selling author and esteemed activist Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. From the initial sparks of revolution in Boston to the climactic Siege of Yorktown and beyond, “Black Patriots” paints a comprehensive picture of the African American experience during the Revolutionary War and shares the story of the war within the revolution through the eyes of some of the most crucial and significant African American figures of our country’s foundation including Crispus Attucks, Peter Salem, Phillis Wheatley and James Armistead Lafayette. Executive produced by Abdul-Jabbar and Deborah Morales, the documentary premieres on Wednesday, February 19 at 10 pm ET/PT on HISTORY.
